In December 2012, whistleblower attorney and managing principal of The Employment Law Group, P.C., R. Scott Oswald, published an article on the IRS Whistleblower Reward Program in The CPA Journal.  In the article, Mr. Oswald provides an overview of:

  •  The IRS whistleblower program
  • An outline of the requirements for whistleblower disclosures
  • Professional obligations to disclosure
  • Protection under the law for whistleblowers

Finally, Oswald wrote on public good that those who report fraud and government waste perform:

“Potential whistleblowers have the opportunity to do a great service in aiding to return funds to the public purse where they belong. These whistleblowers can be rewarded for enticing the IRS by making disclosures accompanied by substantial and credible information.”

The article, “Rewarding Whistleblowers for Disclosing Tax Violations to the IRS”, originally appeared in the December 2012 edition of The CPA Journal.  The Journal is an official, monthly publication of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).
